Overview:

We are looking for a full-time Development Manager to work with Rise & Remember. The Development Manager is responsible for grant writing and donor care. Their primary duties are grantwriting for existing partnering foundations and potential new foundation partnerships. This role is also responsible for creating and maintaining donor portfolios. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in development, including building donor relations and identifying trends, as well as experience with (or be willing to learn) software such as Salesforce and Quickbooks. The Development Manager will be responsible for jumpstarting the fundraising efforts, policies, and procedures within Rise & Remember. This position will require initiative, judgment, independent decision making and strong communication skills. The professional in this position must project warmth and enthusiasm toward people. This person will be a key member of the team, providing fundraising support for the operations of Rise & Remember.

 

The professional in this position must be able to interact warmly with a diversity of people. They must know how to tap into the needs and desires of the George Floyd Square community and how to respond in kind. This position will require strong communication skills, judgment, flexibility, initiative, and decision making. This person will be a key member of the team.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Grantwriting
  • Nurture organizational relationships with existing donors.
  • Oversee the organization’s fundraising programs and initiatives
  • Research funding sources that are favorable to the organization
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Director to design and implement development initiatives
  • Preparing project reports and presenting them to donors and stakeholders
  • Meet with the donor’s representative to ensure the program’s plan matches the donor’s view
  • Keeping track of sent proposals and updating the Rise & Remember team
  • Support the development and management of the organization’s fundraising policies and best practices
  • Initiate and nurture organization-donor relationships by maintaining communication and through gift recognition
  • Meet weekly with the Executive Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of college completed or 3 years of professional experience.
  • Prior development or donor engagement experience required.
  • Experience working in Cultural Heritage Preservation is a plus.
  • Able to work in a start-up environment.
  • Creative.
  • Willingness to learn Salesforce and Quickbooks
