Volunteer

Calling all volunteers! The backbone of the Rise & Remember Festival is our volunteers. Every year, we have volunteers serve as hosts, medics, set-up and tear-down crews, chaplains, canvassers, stage crew, inspirational speakers, table attendants, mutual aid attendants, station assistants, impacted family attendants, and more!

Memorial Caretakers

Volunteering begins months before the actual event. As we emerge out of winter, our Memorial Caretakers at George Floyd Square are the foundation of making Rise & Remember Festival possible. This small but mighty group of volunteers work year-round to be good neighbors by tending to people needs at GFS, the memorials, maintenance needs, gardens, painting, mutual aid, greenhouse, and general neighbor-care.

Community Cleanup Day

Building on the foundation of Memorial Caretakers, we organize an annual Spring Community Cleanup Day to repaint the Mourning Passage, refresh Say Their Names Cemetery, deep clean the memorials, and plant the gardens. Join us on Saturday, May 3rd for our 2025 Community Cleanup Day!

The Festival

At the festival, we want our volunteers to also be able to enjoy themselves. We recommend volunteering for a portion of the festival. To help support our volunteers, we will host a festival volunteer training day to ensure all volunteers meet key team leaders, are briefed on medical and security protocols, and can answer any questions they may have.
